Your Oak Ridge, Hardin Valley, Powell, Clinton, Knoxville, and East Tennessee Orthodontist…
My life was once changed by an orthodontist as they gifted me with the inspiring smile that I have today. I knew from an early age that if I was blessed with the opportunity to be able to do the same thing for others then that is what I wanted to do. After growing up around Atlanta, I began my path to becoming an orthodontist by graduating from Berry College in Rome, Georgia where I fell in love with the outdoors and the mountains. I then accepted the Army’s Health Professional Scholarship and went on the University of Alabama in Birmingham for dental school. I entered active duty immediately after dental school and did an additional 1-year Advanced General Dentistry program with the Army at Fort Carson before being sent to Germany. I was then selected as 1 of only 3 dentists the Army trains each year to become orthodontists. I was sent to The University of Louisville for my orthodontic training. During this 2 years of specialty training I also received my Master’s degree in Oral Biology. The Army then sent me to Fort Hood, Texas to serve as both an orthodontist and to teach orthodontics for the Uniformed Service University in their 2-year Advanced General Dentistry training program.
I spent 10 years in the United States Army, as a primary care dentist for 4 years and as an orthodontist for 6 years so I could gain the necessary experience to open East Tennessee Orthodontics. It was an amazing time treating our Armed Forces and I’m proud to say that I’m a veteran of this great nation who now is honored to treat the great people of Eastern Tennessee!
Outside the office, I still enjoy teaching and regularly speak to groups of dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants on a variety of orthodontic topics. I also enjoy volunteering my time providing dental care at the Emory Valley Clinic and local Remote Area Medical Clinics.I have been married to my wonderful wife Kelly for over 15 years we have 3 amazing children. Our boys Landon and Judah who are love soccer and tennis, the outdoors, and of course, video games, while our daughter Selah trying to keep up with her brothers and dancing. As a family we enjoy playing and watching soccer, mountain biking, hiking, watersports and snow skiing. We also love being involved in our church home, Providence, where both Kelly and I help with the Children’s Ministry.
